STUDENT ASSOCIATE PROGRAM

STUDENT ASSOCIATE PROGRAM

STUDENT ASSOCIATES

In 2021, the Harford Soil Conservation District Board of Supervisors created a “Student Associate” program.  A student associate is a (junior/senior) high school student who serves similarly as an associate (covered under “About” tab).  Qualifying student associates (e.g., resident of Harford County, maintaining a 2.5 GPA or better, a keen interest with agriculture and/or natural resources, etc.) serve during the school calendar year (i.e., November – June).  Student associates regularly attend our monthly board meetings, and are encouraged to gain first-hand knowledge of the district’s day to day functions, responsibilities, and tasks with providing technical assistance to our cooperators and customers.  Student associates may opt out of attending one (1) or two (2) board meetings by scheduling office time with the district office and working with our planners and technicians to learn and assist them in the office and in the field.
