NRCS Resources
Maryland Natural Resource Conservation Service
We help Maryland’s farmers and forest landowners conserve the nation’s soil, water, air and other natural resources. We’re strong advocates for locally-led conservation, closely collaborating with our sister agencies, state and local governments and Soil Conservation Districts to protect Maryland’s precious natural resources
Field Office Technical Guide (FOTG) | NRCS
Technical guides are the primary scientific references for NRCS. They contain technical information about the conservation of soil, water, air, and related plant and animal resources.
Web Soil Survey
Web Soil Survey (WSS) provides soil data and information produced by the National Cooperative Soil Survey. It is operated by the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and provides access to the largest natural resource information system in the world. NRCS has soil maps and data available online for more than 95 percent of the nation’s counties and anticipates having 100 percent in the near future. The site is updated and maintained online as the single authoritative source of soil survey information.
Maryland Farm Service Agency
Provides programs and services to farmers, ranchers, foresters, and agricultural partners including disaster relief, conservation programs, commodity price guarantee programs, loan programs and functions as a safety net for producers.
